Karyn Whittemore is a person living life as a journey probably just like you.  She got her Masters degree from the University of Utah in the Science of Nursing and is a board certified nurse practitioner.  But in her heart, she wanted to make it in the music business as a singer/songwriter.

In 2014 she was diagnosed with breast cancer which caused her to completely rethink everything she was choosing and doing in her life.  Music became less important, and serving as a health care provider became a valued part of her life.  She also started down a more spiritual journey devouring books and learning what she could.

Karen is not a psychic or a medium (yet).  She can’t see colorful auras swirling around people (yet).  She hasn’t had encounters with alien beings or seen fairies or elves (yet).  She can’t move her hand through a solid wall (yet).  And she can’t cure someone’s illness by sending love and using her intention (yet).

Most of us don’t have these gifts or experiences (yet), but we do have the gifts we have.  Karen has guidance and intuition and feels impressions.  She’s even had music and songs come to her which weren’t her own original thoughts.

She appreciates all she has and also knows there is more that could be available to her and to all of us.  She would like to unite with others who want to embark on a quest to develop their psychic abilities, reach out and communicate more with the world around us, improve our ability to manifest, and increase our capacity to love which is truly where the greatest gifts are found.

She has a vision of a world where magical things are common place.  Wouldn’t it be exciting to have immortals on the planet living to be 600 years old, or to be able to heal fractures with our hearts and minds instantaneously, or to see and speak with angels or even leprechauns?  We live in cultures that don’t accept that these things could exist, and so they don’t.  We have never fully explored what could exist.  We assume we can never break the 4 minute mile, and so we don’t.  Until it’s done.

If enough of us work together on recreating our reality, our world could change dramatically.  And here’s the kicker, there’s a lot of science to back it all up!  To get there, we have to be willing to let go of some of our beliefs and acknowledge that they are just beliefs.  We have to be willing to see the impossible as possible and be willing to dream instead of remain engulfed in the world we’re used to seeing around us.

If this speaks to you, and you wish to join Karyn on a journey to transform our world into an everyday magical kingdom, then she would love to journey with you.  To get started, please join our email list.  Now let’s start this adventure!

my music history

In the mountains of Southern Utah against the back drop of "Big Love" where gun wielding survivalists dwell in the red rock desert and new prophets are found on the dusty back roads, singer songwriter Karyn Whittemore has emerged from the desert mountains with a different view. With influences from artists like Kate Bush, Liz Phair, Lou Reed and Sarah McLachlan, Karyn's songs are passionate and sometimes a little quirky with occasional spiritual to mystical overtones. Karyn contrasts her soothing picking style on the acoustic guitar by paying homage to her classical roots on the baby grand.

Karyn has produced and recorded two albums with best song and best album nominations from JPF, and has also been nominated by new Artist Radio as best new artist.

In addition to her solo shows, she is also the singer songwriter for the band, Love Creature. They will be releasing their debut album soon.  They tour regionally to an enthusiastic reception at the venues they perform at.

As one fan stated: "The last time I was this impressed with a band I'd never seen before was back in 1972 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. We had never heard of the opening act, but they blew us away, much like last night's show at Cravings. Karyn is a multi-talented songwriter/musician/performer. She is definitely going places. Oh yeah, that opening act I spoke of was a group called the "Eagles" doing their first live performance."

Throw a stiff shot of Liz Phair, a little Jewel, a dash of Evanescence, a pinch of Sarah Mclachlan in a blender, and you'll wind up with a delicious Love Creature smoothie.

Whether they're playing pop, folk, rock or their own brand of jungle punk, Love Creature energizes a crowd performing their original music with a retro twist.

Sonic Tapestry, June 7, 2005
Karyn Whittemore's 2001 "Slippery Road" is an excellent singer-songwriter disc. Her piano-based melodies are beautiful and call to mind the classic female singer-songwriters such as Carole King & Laura Nyro as well as newer artists like Tori Amos and Suzanne Vega. "I Don't Own You" is a beautiful midtempo melody with Karyn's higher-pitched alto being quite expressive, "Can't take the answers from the grave, Can't know everything, Can't know how we are saved, Can't know it all 'cause I have no control at all." "Catatonic" is a great toe tapper with some tasty electric lead guitar by Tom Chandler. Her lyrics are at times extremely upbeat as on "Let the Healing Begin," "Once I feared that I was drowning, Once I thought the only way up was out, departure was so inviting, but now I've come to learn that there's more that life is about." "Shadenfreude" is apparently a German word about which Whittemore bases an intricate & moving song about embarrassment & revenge, "God forgive me right now, I know these thoughts I should learn to control, Strange the way that life can take you down while others smile from the sidelines."  The set concludes with a stunning almost a cappella song with Karyn's melody & countermelody weaving an intricate sonic tapestry. There are no weak tracks on this excellent independent release that is sure to fly below the radar screens of many. See & you shall find! Enjoy! - Lee Armstrong - Amazon.com
